There’s nothing quite like sinking your teeth into a juicy baked chicken drumstick. Well, I guess there is something better. Glazed Chicken Drumsticks! These Glazed Chicken Drumsticks are so easy to make. This is a pretty healthy chicken drumstick recipe. It tastes fresh. Using organic chicken helps with that. I get organic chicken from my local market. It is important to not overseason these drumsticks since the true flavor is really in the sauce. That is why only a few seasonings are needed on the chicken itself. Anything more would be too overpowering.
They are first, seasoned with just some garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Then they are generously rubbed with oil and baked in a 375°F/190°C oven for 45 minutes. You can use any oil you prefer. I used grapeseed oil for this recipe. I found it to be a heart-healthy option. Grapeseed oil is light and it’s pretty much flavorless. You can’t taste it, which I love. And, it is not high in saturated or trans fats like butter, or shortening.
While the chicken is baking in the oven, it is time to make the glaze! The glaze on these chicken drumsticks is made from reduced-sodium soy sauce, water, honey, freshly grated ginger, and garlic powder. It is then applied to the chicken with a basting brush when the chicken is finished cooking. Then, it is placed back in the oven for about 3 to 5 more minutes. This extra cooking time allows the glaze to adhere to the chicken.
Then, they are taken out of the oven. Be sure to allow them to rest for 10 minutes before serving. If you are serving to company, then garnish it beautifully with something green such as parsley! Even some freshly chopped green onion would make it look beautiful and taste even more delicious! These chicken drumsticks are best served with some rice. Sometimes, I even make extra glaze to drizzle over the rice. It is out of this world delicious that way. Some other ways to serve this chicken are with a salad or with broccoli and seasoned potatoes. Whatever green veggie you like, go with that! That is the beauty of this chicken recipe. It goes with pretty much anything! There are so many different ways to serve it. I hope you enjoy these easy-to-make Glazed Chicken Drumsticks!
I would prefer to take off the skin before cooking Would this alter anything. Also could thighs be used instead of drumsticks
