Rich, delicious homemade chocolate pudding.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Milk, whole

  • 3/4 cup Sugar, white granulated

  • 1/2 cup Cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup Corn starch

  • 3 tablespoons Butter

  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

Directions

  • In medium mixing bowl, mix dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder, corn starch), then sift through a fine sieve to remove any lumps.
  • Add dry ingredients to saucepan.
  • Over medium-low to medium heat, gradually whisk milk into dry ingredients until fully incorporated. Add salt and stir.
  • Bring mixture to low boil, raising burner heat if necessary. Stir constantly while mixture boils for 1.5-2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Add butter and vanilla extra. Stir until butter melts and is thoroughly incorporated.
  • Divide pudding mixture into individual serving dishes or bowls. Chill in refrigerator for at least two hours, then serve.

Notes

  • The color and taste of the pudding will depend on the quality of the cocoa powder. A dry instant chocolate drink will not work.
  • Sugar may be increased or decreased by 1/4 cup to best suit your tastes.
  • Whole milk is required for this recipe and cannot be substituted.
  • Unsalted butter is recommended, but salted butter may be used. Butter substitutes like margarine are not recommended.

Want more chocolate?

While the pudding is still hot, add the finely chopped dark chocolate (2-3 cubes) and stir until the pieces are completely dissolved. You will get a richer chocolate flavor and color. Such a dessert can already be called “Double chocolate pudding” (Double chocolate pudding).

More chocolate? Why not! Decorate the surface of the pudding with chocolate chips and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours. After cooling, the pudding will become thicker and creamier. And of course, very chocolaty!

Chocolate pudding with ice cream

You can decorate the dessert with powdered sugar, a scoop of ice cream, or fresh berries. You can also serve mint or berry sauce. But hot pudding goes well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Try it! To do this, first prepare the pudding according to the original recipe. You can add a tablespoon of nut butter or ground nuts to the main ingredients for an even richer taste. Hazelnuts are best. Chill the pudding slightly before serving to prevent your guests’ scalding. Take ice cream; its natural taste goes well with chocolate desserts. Shape into a ball with a spoon and place it on top of the pudding. Serve immediately to keep the ice cream from melting.

Chocolate pudding is a delicious and healthy dessert that is ideal both for serving at festive feasts and for treating loved ones at family gatherings. Homemade sweets are much healthier than ready-made desserts that are temptingly displayed on pastry departments’ shelves. Please yourself and your loved ones with delicious, natural desserts prepared by your own hands. No chemicals or dyes. A culinary masterpiece’s appetizing sight will give aesthetic satisfaction, while the delicious taste is an unforgettable delight.
