When I came across the recipe for Sand Art Brownies, I knew it would be a hit at my child’s birthday party. The idea of combining two things kids love – sand art and brownies – seemed like a winning combination.

Ingredients

  • 5/8 cup all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar

  • 2/3 cup white sugar

  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup vanilla baking chips

  • 1/2 cup walnuts

Directions

  • Mix the 5/8 cup of flour with salt. In a clean, wide mouth 1 quart or 1 liter jar, layer the ingredients in the order given. Starting with the flour and salt mixture, and ending with the walnuts.
  • Attach a decorative tag to the outside of the jar with the following directions: Sand Art Brownies: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 9×9 inch square baking pan. 2. Pour the contents of the jar into a large bowl, and mix well. 3. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2/3 cup vegetable oil, and 3 eggs. Beat until just combined. 4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, and bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

I gathered all the necessary ingredients, including the brownie mix and an assortment of colorful sanding sugars. The process was simple and enjoyable. The kids had a blast layering the different colored sugars in the brownie batter, creating their own unique sand art designs.

As the brownies baked in the oven, the anticipation grew. Once they were ready, I let them cool and then cut them into individual servings. The colorful layers of sanding sugar added a fun and vibrant touch to the brownies.

When the kids took their first bite, their faces lit up with joy. The combination of rich chocolatey brownies with the crunchy, sweet sanding sugar was a hit. Not only did they love the taste, but they were also proud of the edible art they had created.

The Sand Art Brownies were a hit at the party, and I received numerous compliments from both kids and parents. It was a fun and interactive treat that kept everyone entertained and satisfied.
